Rome … in its glory!
As I wandered through the streets of Washington DC, from the grandeur of the National Mall to the quiet corners of charming neighborhoods, a thought struck me: this city, with its classical influences and monumental architecture, is America’s Rome. The echoes of history here are palpable, not just in the marble columns or statues, but in the stories they tell. Washington DC is where ideals are immortalized, where power converges with purpose, and where each building and boulevard seems to whisper a narrative of ambition, struggle, and triumph.
This realization took me back to my dreams of visiting Rome. The Eternal City—where every stone has a story, every arch an ode to civilization’s perseverance. Rome’s glory isn’t just in its ruins or its renaissance art but in its ability to embody human aspiration. It’s a city where the past and present coexist so seamlessly, where the Colosseum stands not as a relic but as a reminder of endurance, of the cycles of history that never truly end but evolve.

Similarly, Washington DC holds a mirror to those ideals. Walking through it with my family, absorbing the layers of culture, history, and innovation, I realized that like Rome, this city too tells the story of humanity striving for something greater. Both cities remind us of the potential of human ingenuity and the lessons of our shared past, urging us to rise to the occasion of our time.
As we packed up the car and started our journey back, I couldn’t help but feel enriched. This wasn’t just a trip; it was an experience of world-schooling in its purest form. We learned from the city’s grandeur and its grit, from its memorials to its living, breathing energy. It reminded me that the world is a vast classroom, and every city, every monument, and every experience has something to teach us if we’re open to it.

Rome may still be on our horizon, but for now, Washington DC has shown us that every place can be a Rome in its own way—a city of lessons, of stories, and of timeless beauty. And as we continue our journey as world-schoolers, I know one thing for certain: the world isn’t just a classroom; it’s a treasure trove of inspiration, waiting to be uncovered.
